After doing a search, you may want to see if a particular item is available for checkout. You can do this by requesting the item. If the item is available, the library portal directs you to check the shelves. If the item is not available, your library may let you make a hold request or an interlibrary loan request.
If you make a hold request, the library will then hold the item for you when it becomes available. You can request the first available item or a specific item (or copy of the title). If you make an interlibrary loan request, the library will request the item from another library and will either contact you when the item arrives or send you the item. You can borrow an actual item or request a photo copy of an article.
To request a library item
Search for a library item.
Click Request Item next to the item that you want.
If the item is available, the library portal displays a message saying that the item is available on the shelf for checkout. If the item is not available for checkout, the library portal prompts you to log in to your account to request the item.
If you have not already done so, log in to your user account.
If a Request Confirmation displays, place a hold request for the item.
Note: If the item is not available at your local library, but is available at Library B, you may be able to request the item if your library has a borrowing agreement with Library B. To request the item from Library B, your library portal may prompt you to complete an interlibrary loan request for Library B. |
Note: This feature may not be available, depending on how your library sets up the portal. |
