Sorting your search results

You can sort your search results while doing an Advanced or Power search, or after your search results have been displayed. Sorts let you organize your search results. You can choose from any pre-defined sorts (such as title, author, publication date, format, or call number) to display your results.

Note:  Sorts do not apply to Z39.50 broadcast searches.

To sort your search results

  1. Do an Advanced or Power search for the item that you want.

Tip:  If you want to, you can choose sort options when you enter search criteria for an Advanced or Power search. Choose the sort that you want to use from the Sorting drop-down list before doing the search.

  1. At the summary list of titles, find the Limits and Sorts group.

  1. Choose the sort that you want from the list of sorts.

  2. Click Go.

The library portal returns a list of search results based on the sort that you chose.

Note:  This feature may not be available, depending on how your library sets up the portal.
