The Advanced search lets you refine your search by entering more criteria than you can use with the Basic search. You can define limits and sort your search results by specific criteria. You can also search other libraries or databases for the item that you want.
To do an Advanced search
Click the Search tab.
Click Advanced.
Enter your search terms in one or more of the fields provided.
Your list of search results will be smaller as you enter more information.
Tip: You can also search for items using a "wildcard" symbol or a truncation symbol. This is useful if you do not know the exact term for which you want to search. (For example, you may not know how to spell an author's name.) |
If you want to search a specific library (or target), mark the box next to that target.
You can limit your search to show only those titles that match a certain criteria (such as CDs, DVDs, etc.).
You can sort your search results to display in a certain order.
Click Go.
The library portal returns a list of results based on the search criteria that you entered. (For information on how to understand your search results, see Interpreting your search results.)
Note: These features may not be available, depending on how your library sets up the portal. |
